Training Early Recognition Ear Pathology and Working safely in the Ear canal with the head-mounted binocular 3D microscope

This unique and intensive training takes place face-to-face on location. It takes place in a small group (4 to 8 people), lasts a full day (2 half-day sessions including lunch) and is given by an experienced ENT physician and an assistant. The basis of the training focuses on working in the ear with direct binocular 3D vision. With the improved view of the ear canal, during the training you will increase your knowledge of the anatomy of the ear, take the next step in recognizing abnormal situations (the pathology of the ear) and learn that working in the ear with direct 3D vision is safer.

• You will learn how to use the forehead-borne microscope and experience what looking with depth & focus does to your perception of the ear canal and eardrum.
• With the superior 3D view of the forehead-worn microscope, you gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the ear canal and eardrum.
• With your enhanced vision, you will gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the ear and hearing function, the ear canal and eardrum.
• Using a set of core diagnoses, you will learn to better recognize and name abnormalities (ear pathology) with 3D vision in your communication.
• You learn to refer more appropriately to the family physician or ENT specialist.
• You will be introduced to the pros and cons of irrigation/spraying versus dry ear canal cleaning with microsuction and curettage as methods of earwax removal.
• You will be introduced to remote supervision and introduced to the EarwaxDossier (EWD) the online medical record of OnlineKNO. ENT doctors watch you remotely and give their feedback.
• For supervision, you will learn how to capture short videos before and after with your otoscope. During the training you will practice what you have learned on dummy heads.
• The EWD has a chat feature that allows direct questions to our team of ENT doctors. You will learn to ask (medical) questions to further deepen your knowledge even after the course.
• You will be able to help your clients better after the course. If you are experienced and have a good relationship with your local ENT doctor, you can start doing regular checkups with remote ENT supervision in the future.

Each participant will be provided with a head-mounted Vorotek O Scope binocular 3D microscope and other supplies for the duration of the training. It is recommended that each participant bring their own laptop and otoscope to the training.
